July 26, 2010: Ruth, Amanda, and Rebecca attended an all day class sponsered by Columbia Beauty Supply and Framesi called Discover Italian Style. We studied fashion trends and new color techniques and still had the time to learn two new cuts! It was intense, but great fun. July 12, 2010: Images' staff spent two hours of their day off to learn the ins and outs of the Eufora hair care system. Not only did we learn that aloe vera contains 20 of the 22 human required amino acids, we learned about each product in the line and what type of problems each will solve, as well as some really fun "tricks" of the trade. July 6, 2010: We have been getting questions about the difference between the ReTex Straightening Treatment and Kerasmooth. So let me try to give you a brief overview. The ReTex Straightening System is a Japanese straightening system that permanently straightens. The hair that is treated stays straight until it is cut off. ReTex involves two separate chemical applications. Your hair will be prepped with a special shampoo, protected as necessary and the straightening product is applied. When the desired straightening has been achieved, the hair is rinsed, blow dried and flat ironed, after which the second product is applied to set in the new straightness and again, the hair is rinsed, blow dried and flat ironed. The process usually takes approximately 3 hours from start to finish. Kerasmooth is similar chemically, but is more semipermanent. The hair is shampooed and the product applied and left on until the desired straightness is achieved. The hair is rinsed, blow dried and flat ironed and you are done! The procedure is much faster and can be completed in approximately an hour. ReTeX and Kerasmooth should not be applied to hair that has been previously straightened with sodium hydroxide, guanidine carbonate, calcium hydroxide/calcium oxide blend, or with lye (lithium hydroxide) straighteners. I hope this helps to answer some of the most common questions. If I've missed anything, you are welcome to call and we will address your questions specifically. June 22, 2010: Candice, a trainer for It&ly Hair Fashion, taught a two hour class on Colorly and Delyton hair color. We covered formulation and color theory and spent time discussing specific color issues for various clients so we would be better able to achieve perfect results! February 22, 2010: Amanda and I attended a class sponsored by Professional Beauty Supply and ItEly Hair Fashion,(it really is spelled that way, but their logo makes it look more cool), featuring Betsy Reyes. She is a hairdresser who worked as a stylist on MTV and is now working as a hair stylist on Gossip Girl and Saturday Night Live. Her star portfolio includes Vanessa Minnello, Damien Fahey, JoJo, Suchin Pak and Ashley Simpson. She also has done work for Maxim, Seventeen, Teen People, M Magazine, Revolver and more. She showed us some new trends and styling techniques as well as some quick and easy up-do ideas. Today's looks are very feminine and pretty, with curl and texture. Flat ironing is out. Curl is random, styles move and up-do's are unstructured. Don't worry if a piece slips loose. It's all part of the look. Color is softer and hilights more subtle with warmer tones. Betsy is very down to earth and showed us things that anyone can wear. We had loads of fun and have lots of new ideas. Come see for yourself at Images Main Street, the relaxed salon in the Fan.

With over 30 years of experience, Ruth takes education seriously and regularly attends classes and shows sponsored locally and in such far flung places as Atlanta, New York, New Orleans, and Virginia Beach. Amanda has been with Images nearly two years. Her schedule is limited as she is also a full time student at J. Sarge. Amanda has a keen eye and is able to translate couture into wearable. She is our resident make-up artist and gives great advice on which colors to choose for your skin. She also loves to wax. When you need special attention to get your eyebrows just right, call for Amanda. The right cut, the right colors, good eyebrows! Amanda will take care of you from start to finish.
Rebecca has been with us for two years and has completed her apprenticeship except for taking her state board exam. She does great colors and cuts and really loves to do hair, so check her out if you are up for trying some one new in the business.
